Breaking News from the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency board meeting Tuesday:
Boynton Beach is getting even closer to having a downtown.
The owner of a property on the east side of Federal Highway and Boynton Beach Boulevard has come to the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency to build an 8-story residential and retail project.
Owner Davis Camalier would create the project with land he owns, and land the CRA owns. He wants the CRA land, which is appraised at $460,000, for free.
On Tuesday night at the CRA board meeting, the majority of the board members voted to move forward with the plan. Commissioner Mike Fitzpatrick voted against it.
The board accepted a letter of intent from the developer, and will now have to issue a 30-day notice of intent to dispose of the CRA’s property. The project still has to go through the planning approval process.
“This basically starts the clock ticking so the city can start to review the project and give them comments back,” said CRA Director Vivian Brooks.
