Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority gives $500,000 in grants to local towns

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County voted Wednesday to award seven grants, totaling $500,000, for communities to clean up blighted and distressed property.
The authority said the money comes from garbage burned at its Renewable Energy Facility 2.
Belle Glade got $107,445 to demolish its former water treatment plant at 1016 W. Canal St. S., It was closed down when the county built the Regional Water Treatment Plant in 2008.
Boynton Beach’s Community Redevelopment Agency got $62,310 for its Heart of Boynton Neighborhood Improvement Project, including razing a building and parking lot at 909 N. Seacrest Blvd.; clearing CRA-owned land at Northeast Fourth Avenue and Northeast Fifth Avenue; and cleaning up the city’s Public Works site.
Delray Beach got $63,200 to clean up various properties. And its Community Redevelopment Agency got $51,701 to demolish four blighted properties in the West Atlantic neighborhood.
Lake Worth’s Community Redevelopment Agency got $72,700 for improvements to the Armory Art Annex/Lake Worth Community Arts Center.
Riviera Beach will get $99,070 to revitalize Cunningham Park. And its Community Redevelopment Agency got $44,646 to create Riviera Beach Heights Gateway Pocket Park.
