The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency board decided not to pick up the tab for Marina Village to hire a parking management company. So, if Marina Village officials decide to continue with their plan, the public will have to pay $5 starting Thursday to park in the garage that is currently free.
But, the board has an idea: At the CRA board meeting Tuesday night, they voted to follow the recommendation made by Vivian Brooks, the CRA's executive director, in paying to lease 200 parking spots at a nearby parking lot. Those spots would be free to the public. The lot is just north of Ocean Avenue on Federal Highway.
"Let's get the 200 spaces, lease those from him on a shorter term basis until we can find an area for a public parking garage," said Brooks.
Brooks said it will cost the CRA $20,000 a year to lease the spaces, plus maintenance.
