Parade to start off Boynton’s Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration events

Boynton Beach is hosting a handful of events to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. The first event will be a parade on Jan. 9. The parade will be along Seacrest Boulevard between Boynton Beach and MLK boulevards.
Here are a list of the other events:
Saturday, Jan. 9
-Health Fair (free refreshments) at Carolyn Sims Center at 225 NW 12th Ave. from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday, January 15, 2016
-Music on the Rocks Free Concert at Ocean Ave. Amphitheatre at 129 East Ocean Ave. from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, January 16, 2016
-Celebration of Unity Free Concert at Ocean Ave. Amphitheatre at 129 East Ocean Ave. from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, January 17, 2016
-Living the Dream Gala at Benvenuto Restaurant at 1730 North Federal Highway from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Monday, January 18, 2016
-The MLK Makeover Project on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.at 7:00 a.m.
The events are being put on by the Boynton Beach Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee with the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and the City of Boynton.
“These family oriented activities not only celebrate his life and work, but will assist in repairing community relationships by bridging the barriers of separation , as well as giving a spark to a much needed rebirth for remembering the importance of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” according to a statement from the CRA.
