"I like to tell people that these guys are like Volkswagens with lips," said Volear.

Years ago Goliath groupers were on the endangered species list, but they have recently started to become more plentiful."The actual spawning event was a few weeks ago," said Volear.  "What's really surprising to everyone that it is starting all over again."Volear said the fish are still protected and he hopes it stays that way. He said if the fish stay in the water, it will be good for South Florida's economy."I mean room nights at all the hotels, people spending money at restaurants and on dive boats," said Volear.  "Divers will come and spend money."And for fisherman."They are showing the more Goliath we have, the higher the population of the snapper," he said.
